Anatine (Pristine Twitter App) – Mobile web version of Twitter App for Linux Desktop

Anatine is a Brand New Free, open-source Desktop Twitter App for Linux, Windows, and OS X. Anatine describes as a pristine Twitter app, which build with Electron framework and emulating mobile Twitter website on your desktop.

App is Simple and straightforward, It emulating mobile.twitter.com on desktop and included all the features which are available on it, such as share, replay, re tweet & manage account.

one of the main feature, it hides promoted tweets. Also you can change the app to Dark mode. When closing the window, the app will continue running in the background and added into tray, right-click the tray icon and choose Toggle to toggle the window & Quit to completely quit the app.

1) Install Anatine on Linux

As of now there is no official package & third party package too. So, we need to install it manually. Navigate to /opt directory and download the Anatine zip file from developer github page, then finally extract it.

[Navigate to /opt/Anatine directory]
$ sudo mkdir /opt/Anatine
$ cd /opt/Anatine

[Download Anatine zip file]
$ sudo wget https://github.com/sindresorhus/anatine/releases/download/0.5.1/Anatine-linux-0.5.1.zip

[Unzip Anatine]
$ sudo unzip Anatine-linux-0.5.1.zip

[Download Anatine logo]
$ sudo wget https://github.com/sindresorhus/anatine/blob/master/static/Icon.png

2) Create Desktop Launcher for Anatine

Create a Desktop launcher by adding below content into .desktop file.

$ sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/anatine.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Anatine
Exec=/opt/Anatine/Anatine
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Icon=/opt/Anatine/Icon.png

3) Launch & Configure Anatine

After successful installation of Anatine, Navigate to menu and open the Anatine application.

Enter the UserName & Password of your twitter account and hit Login button.

Dark mode : You can toggle dark mode in the Anatine menu or with Cmd Shift D / Ctrl Shift D.
